Stock Donations Procedure

St. Thomas More Parish follows the procedures for safe and secure donated stock transactions as established by the Archdicoese of Cincinnati and Fifth Third Bank.  Fifth Third can process donations of Direct Registration (DRS or book entry) assets, and mutual funds, along with the typical physical stock certificates and broker to broker transfers or DTC transfers.

If shares are held with a broker, i.e. Merrill Lynch, Smith Barney, please give the following information to the broker. If questions, the broker or donor should contact the parish Business Manager.  The Automated Customer Account Transfer Service (ACATS) is a system that facilitates the transfer of securities from one trading account to another.

Information needed to submit regular stock donations through ACATS:
• Account Number: 01-01-000-4471751 (14 digits)
• Receiving Firm DTC: 2116
• Enter the donor’s name, St. Thomas More, and the two letter ACRO in the comment field.
Please note:  a donor name MUST accompany the transfer in order to be received.  Donor names must come through on the transfer memo line or the shares will be rejected and sent back to the donor account.

Information needed to submit regular stock donations (NON ACATS):
• St. Thomas More
• Church Specific Account Number, including two letter ACRO identifier
• Receiving Firm Name – Fifth Third
• Receiving Firm DTC – 2116

Physical Certificate:  Certificates held in the name of the donor(s) must be endoresed by the donor(s) exactly as stated on the front side of the certificate.  Except for the signature lines, please leave all other lines on the back of the certificate blank.  All certificates held in the name of the donor(s) must be accompanied by a letter stating that is the donor(s)' intention to donate the stock to the parish.  The letter must identify the stock, number of share, and include handwritten signatures exactly as stated on the front side of the certificate.  All paperwork must be original.  The stock certificates and the letter can be delivered to the Parish Office during business hours. 

For Mutual Funds held either with a broker or with a mutual fund company please forward the following information to the parish Business Manager to review. The Business Manager will then supply delivery instructions.
• The ticker/cusip for the mutual fund.
• The number of shares they are donating.
• The delivering bank/broker name.
• The donor(s) name.
• Delivering DTC #.
• Delivering BIN Account #
• The parish/school/organization Fifth Third account number including two letter ACRO that identifies specific location.

To submit mutual funds through ACATS:
• Account Number: 01-01-000-4471751 (14 digits)
• Receiving Firm DTC: 2116
• Enter the donor’s name, St. Thomas More, and the two letter ACRO in the comment field.

For Direct Registration (DRS or book entry) assets, typically held at Computershare or AST, please collect the following information and forward to Mary Jones, [email protected], or Catherine Ampfer, [email protected], for processing.
• A copy of the most recent statement clearly showing account number and registered name.
• The number of shares to be donated.
• CUSIP number.
• The donor(s) name.
• St. Thomas Motre Fifth Third account number including two letter ACRO that identifies specific location.
