STM Readers Recognized for Excellence
St. Thomas More School has utilized Accelerated Reader for many years, but this year decided to “ramp up” the use of the program by dedicating time daily for silent reading and investing in 10 hours of professional development. The online training helped teachers learn using the program effectively in the classroom to monitor and develop student reading habits. Accelerated Reader and its diagnostic Star Reader program have become an essential part of our Response to Intervention (RTI) practices.
Students responded with outstanding progress in independent reading, making STM one of the top ranked AR schools in the nation. We are proud of our students and teachers for their hard work!
From Renaissance Learning, home of Accelerated Reader:
Congratulations on a wonderful school year at Saint Thomas More School! According to your Accelerated Reader Real Time data, your students using AR read an average of 601,056 words each and have taken an average of 27 quizzes each, making your school stand out on a national level for its impressive achievement in student reading practice. You should be very proud.
We are proud! And we invite students to continue building their reading skills and knowledge by continuing summer reading and quizzing at the Amelia Public Library, which has been designated our STM Summer Reading site.
