STM Latchkey Program 2010-2011
The STM Latchkey Program is for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The program will run Monday through Friday on days when St. Thomas More School is in session. There will be NO program on days that St. Thomas More is not in session, including holiday breaks, snow days, or staff in-service days. The director of the program is Angela Holtgrefe with assistants Mrs. Liz Hart and Mrs. Robin West.
MORNING PROGRAM:
Time: 6:30 a.m. until 8:00 a.m.
Location: Parish Dining Room. Parents park in front of Heider Hall and escort child to the east side door of the cafeteria and sign in.
Cost: $4.00/child/day. Breakfast is included.
$3.00/child/day if the child is registered and attends afternoon latchkey. Breakfast is included.
Registration fee of $10.00 per family for morning only.
Please register by August 21, 2010, if possible so that we can purchase sufficient supplies for the first week.
Program: Breakfast, games, and quiet activities
AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM:
Time: 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Children picked up after 6:00 p.m. will be charged at a rate of $1.00/minute for each minute after 6:00 p.m. This additional fee must be paid on the date that the charge is incurred.
Location: Conference Room C, Parish Dining Room. The playground, gym, computer lab and library will also be used for various activities. When the parish dining room is scheduled for another parish function, Heider Hall’s common area will be used. Parents should park in front of Heider Hall and come to the east side door of the parish dining room to sign out their children and escort them to the car.
Cost: The cost of the afternoon program is as follows: $10.00 per child per day. A registration fee of $35.00 per child will apply for afternoon only or both morning and afternoon. Please register by August 21, 2010 if possible, so that we may purchase sufficient supplies for the first week.
Program: Supervision will be provided at a ratio of 1 caregiver to 15 students, according to the regulations set forth by the State of Ohio. The after-school program will follow the guidelines set by the Ohio Department of Education. This includes the following components:
• Personal discipline
• Social development and emotional well-being
• Recreation skills
• Health and safety skill
General Daily Schedule: • Snack time
• Homework/study time
• Outdoor free time
• Indoor craft/game/activity
DISCIPLINE POLICY:
1. Children who don’t share, play roughly, or call others inappropriate names will be given one warning.
2. If the behavior is repeated, the child will have a 10-minute “time out.”
3. Some behaviors may warrant a phone call to a child’s parent or guardian. In these cases, the child will be isolated until the parent or guardian has picked up the child.
4. These behaviors include:
- Being disrespectful to the staff
- Harassment of another child
- Physical assault
- Refusing to follow the rules
- Running away from the group
- Stealing
- Destroying another student’s property
5. In addition, the above named behaviors may include a one-week suspension from the Latchkey program at the discretion of the director.
6. Parents will be informed of a suspension in a timely manner. Suspension will begin the following week, on Monday, or the first school day of the week. Parents may subtract one week’s payment if their child is suspended.
7. In the event of a second suspension, the child may be expelled from the program.
PAYMENT:
Payment is expected for the registered dates unless your child is absent from school or school is not in session for some reason. Payment must be made by one of the following options:
a) Payment in full on the first day of the monthly session
b) Payment on Monday of each week
