The Ohio Academy of Science has selected St. Thomas More School for the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Youth Science Opportunities.
For the third consecutive year, St. Thomas More School has been recognized by the Ohio Academy of Science and governor John Kasich for excellence in science education. The Governor's Thomas Edison Awards for Excellence in Youth Science Opportunities is awarded to schools with a proven track record of student-originate, inquiry-based science education. Only forty-eight schools in Ohio, three of them in Cincinnati, were selected for this honor.
The Ohio Academy of science initiated this recognition program the recognize schools who stimulate student research in STEM areas (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) beyond traditional classroom activities.
Lead science teachers at St. Thomas More include Scott Day (grades 6-8), Theresa Rein (grade 5) and Sharon Fryman (grade 4).

Teacher Scott Day helps Maddie Gentile and Lauren Bishop during a lab exploring density.

Theresa Rein provides a demonstration for her fifth graders who are studying elements.
