Purpose: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Youth (RCIY) is the process by which children of catechetical age are initiated into membership in the Catholic Church. Through joining with the parish at Sunday Liturgy and Catechetical Sessions, potential converts are invited to come to know the Church at to discern the call of Christ in their lives.
Information: The RCIY team serves as catechists, facilitators and coordinators. The Parish community lends its support through prayer, hospitality and witness. The Initial Inquiry, (also called precatechumenate), are sessions which present an opportunity for interested people to meet on an informal basis to begin considering the Catholic faith. In the Catechumenate, the formal presentation of the faith begins and includes a formal presentation of the candidates to the Parish and the promise of support for those in the RCIA.
